Porscheshop mechanics spent 2 days preparing the cars for Mike and his father, a 997 GT2 and the 997 EuroCupGT-S used as the pursuit car (for Mike's father who directed Mike down the 1.85 mile runway via a radio).

Mr Newman was driving at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, in Leicestershire. He now intends to get the blind water speed record in the same year which would make him the first blind person to hold both records simultaneously.
