Porscheshop's EurocupGT Porsche 997 3.8 Carrera S - Total 911 Magazine's "Best 911 of 2010"

Introduction

The concept was to recreate a close-to factory GT model in terms of handling and performance but with "touring" comfort and starting with a base model 996 or 997 using all Porscheshop "off the shelf" products.

EuroCupGT Porsche 997 at Nurburgring For this project we started with a 2005 997 Carrera S coupe with PASM. We felt that this model would be the most challenging of all the modern aspirated 911s to develop for because of Porsche's Cam-Bus system. We wanted to explore the limits of their on-board systems like PASM as an every day driver/track day option.

After 6 months development, and a trip to Germany's Nurburgring Nordschleife we now feel we have what realistically is the "ultimate 911 on a budget".

Each and every part listed is readily available "off the shelf" from stock and as a "bolt on" for the enthusiast, the only exceptions being the EuroCupGT bespoke re-map and the Carbon fibre roof skin (which are both available as services from ourselves).

Total 911 Magazine Article & Gallery

Below is the article featured in Total 911 magazine (issue number 69). Since the car being featured, Total 911 has had a round up of their favourite Porsche 911s of 2010 and our car was chosen as the best from 160 cars. Here's what Total 911 had to say:

"Close to our favourite 911 of the year was Alex Livesey's modified twin-turbocharged 964 Carrera 4. A 550bhp beast that's also highly useable, and Alex's brother treated us to some outrageous doughnuts!"

"Top of the list, though, has to go to Porscheshop's 997 Carrera S which they've turned into an RSR-inspired fun machine. The car we drove cost under less than half the price of a new 997 GT3 RS but delivers 80 percent of the entertainment. And of all the 911s we've driven, this one created the most attention from bystanders. Definitely our favourite Porsche 911 of 2010."

"We didn't have high hopes for Porscheshop's remixed early 997 Carrera S, expecting it to be all show and no go. We drove it through the city of Oxford and the 'show' part certainly impressed onlookers. Out of town though, we were the ones to be impressed when we discovered it had 'go' by the bucketful. An affordable and fun way to inject new life into a 997. We want one!"
